ಕ್ಷಣಪ್ರಭಾ - Kshanaprabhaa

I was fascinated especially by the last two lines of this beautiful and heartwarming poem "Christmas Eve" by Bill Watterson as part of his Calvin and Hobbes series and tried translating it through Indianizing, by bringing some Kannada " sogadu " in it. Here's the attempt: ಸುಗ್ಗಿಹಬ್ಬದ ಮುನ್ನ... ನಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಯಂಗಳದ ಹುಲ್ಲು ಹಾಸಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಮುಸುಕಿಹುದು ಮುತ್ತಿನೊಲು ಹಿಮದ ಬಿಂದು, ಎಳ್ಳು ಬೆಲ್ಲದ ಕುಡಿಕೆ, ಹುಗ್ಗಿ ತಪ್ಪಲೆಯೆಲ್ಲ ಸಿಂಗರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿಹವು ಹಬ್ಬಕೆಂದು. ಪುಟ್ಟ ಹಣತೆಯ ಸಾಲು ಬೆಳಗಿಹವು ಹೊಸ್ತಿಲಲಿ ಕುಳಿರಿನೀ ರಾತ್ರಿಯನು ಬೆಚ್ಚಗಿಡಲು, ನೆನಪಿಟ್ಟ ಹಾಡುಗಳು, ಜನಪದದ ಗೀತೆಗಳು ಮೆಲ್ಲುಸಿರಿನಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲೊ ಮೊಳಗುತಿರಲು. ಕೊಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯ ಗೋವುಗಳ ಉಸಿರ ದನಿ ಬೆರೆಯುವುದು ಶಿಳ್ಳೆಯಂದದಿ ತಾಳ ಚಿಟಿಕೆಯೊಡನೆ, ಮುದ್ದು ಕರು ಮಲಗಿಹುದು ಹಟ್ಟಿಯಲಿ ಮೆಲುಕುತ್ತ  ನಿದಿರೆಯಾಳದಿ ಕಂಡ ಕನಸುಗಳನೆ. ಚಳಿಗಾಳಿ ಬೀಸದರ ಮೆದುರೋಮ ನಲುಗಿರಲು ಮುದುಡಿ ಮತ್ತೊಣಹುಲ್ಲಿಗೊರಗುತಿಹುದು. ಬದಿಯಲ್ಲೆ ಕುಳಿತದನು ಎದೆಗವಚಿಕೊಂಡಿಹೆನು ಬಳಸಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲದು ನಸುನಗುವುದು. ಇಂತಿರಲು ಮರುದಿನದ ಬೆಳಗ ಕಾದಿರುವೆ, ಕಾತರವನಿನ್ನು ಕೆಲ ಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಿಡಿದಿಡುವೆ.   The original poem by Bill Watterson:

 Thanks to the thoughts expressed by Sri Arvind Iyer (@longhandnotes at Twitter), I got the idea of attempting a poetic interpretation of Leonhard Euler 's work that led to the birth of Graph Theory . The story of the seven bridges of  Königsberg . This is what followed over the course of the next 2-3 months, a mini-kaavya of 34 verses in Kannada Bhamini Shatpadi , which I named as "Bindurekha Charite" (Bindu - Node, Rekha - Edge: The two primary ingredients of a Graph). Here's an attempt at translating Dr. Chandana Sri 's beautiful poem "Phases of the Moon" to Kannada. I also thank her for her inputs during the translation.
